Over the weekend, we have stuck to the open beta for Tera, an upcoming action MMO role-playing game from Bluehole. Although our experience was off and on as a result of stress test temperament of the beta, we did manage to get an adequate feel for the name. Long story short, we think it's shaping up quite well on PlayStation 4.
Just like with any MMO that's making the jump from PC, Tera's experienced a lot of tweaking in order to make it fully playable on console. Providentially, the tweaking appears to have been effective. Two actions bars line the bottom of the screen, and you simply flick involving them by holding a shoulder button. The control scheme clicked with us right away, and it is always a fantastic sign.
There's still a great deal of screen clutter to wade through, however. There's text anyplace and at first it seems like you are being buried alive by info, but it's obviously something that regular players can get accustomed to. Our only real complaint so far as presentation goes would be that all of the menus look rather simple and bland.
So how can Tera play? The MMO bills itself as a genuine action game, and for the most part, it appears to live up to that promise. There's no waiting around for twists or cooldowns here you're free to attack, dodge, and pull off special moves whenever you desire. The system's fairly fluid, and using a bunch of different player classes to choose from
Category:Equipment, there's a fantastic amount of variation available.
Think The Elder Scrolls Online, just a lot more over-the-top, and you're on the ideal track. The bottom line is that it's pretty fun, and we loved letting loose with assorted powerful attacks once we'd unlocked them up.
