Jimmy Garoppolo has been injured often during his career as a starting quarterback, but at least a couple of players think that he shouldn't have been sidelined on one occasion.
Two former Patriots, New York Jets Jackets Martellus Bennett and Julian Edelman, recently spoke about Garoppolo's brief stint as the team's starter in 2016 while Tom Brady was suspended following the Deflategate scandal. Bri sett, a rookie, was the only quarterback remaining on the roster when Garoppolo said he couldn't play. Still, Bennett believes that Garoppolo should never have put Bri sett in that position, especially since Garoppolo decided not to play at the last minute.

Bennett comments were made in October of 2021, but Edelman was asked about them on a recent episode of the . Edelman admitted that Garoppolo's decision made him, among others, angry at the time.
